Rushan Khvesyuk is to be appointed the chief managing director of Alfa-Bank Ukraine, according to a press release from the bank.

“The posts of president and chief managing director of the bank will be separated. Thus, Alexander Lukanov [currently president and chief managing director of the bank] will be appointed President of Alfa-Bank Ukraine, while Khvesyuk will be appointed the chief managing director of Alfa-Bank Ukraine,” reads the report.

Khvesyuk is the chief executive officer of Alfa Banking Group.

According to the report, at an extraordinary general meeting the bank’s shareholders will consider the introduction of Lukanov and Khvesyuk to the supervisory board of Alfa-Bank Ukraine.

Lukanov at his new post will focus on the realization of M&A projects, the coordination of operations with debt deals, and building long-term relations with the key clients of the bank.

“Some successful deals on the acquisition of portfolios and other assets that were finalized in 2012 allow us to say with confidence that we’ve got experience in similar projects. It’s obvious that interest in such deals on the market will be seen in 2013, and we’re ready to pay special attention to them,” the press service said, citing Lukanov.

Alfa-Bank (prior to Jan. 2011, Kyiv Investment Bank) was founded in 1993 and is part of Russia’s Alfa-Group. The biggest shareholder in the bank on January 1, 2013 was Cyprus-based ABH Ukraine Limited with 80.10%. Russia’s Alfa-Bank owns 19.90%.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, Kyiv-based Alfa-Bank was 11th biggest bank in the country in terms of assets as of October 1, 2012, with UAH 27.457 billion.
