MP from the Batkivschyna Party faction Andriy Senchenko has repeatedly appealed with an official request to Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Kozak and Prime Minister Mykola Azarov asking to provide the copies of the contracts for the supply of Hyundai electric trains.

According to the press service of the deputy, Kozak refused to provide the copies of the contract, saying that “these contracts are confidential and are not subject to disclosure.”

“I want to remind the minister that I am a representative of the power. They spent not their own money but state funds, and the citizens of Ukraine are taxpayers and not the third party in relation to the state. Ukrainians through taxes formed the budget, therefore they have the right to know how their funds are spent. Therefore I sent a repeated request to the minister and an additional appeal to Azarov asking to provide the documents from the Cabinet of Ministers. My further investigation will be carried out both regarding the purchases of Hyundai trains and the effectiveness of using that UAH 4.6 billion, which, according to the minister, was spent on the reconstruction of railway track for high-speed traffic,” said Senchenko.

As reported, in late December 2012 Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych criticized the decision to purchase foreign high-speed trains for Ukraine.
