Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov expects that oil production in Ukraine will increase to 7-8 million tonnes per year by 2021.

"In ten years, Ukraine will produce from seven to eight million tonnes [a year] I believe, with the demand being 20 million tonnes," he told reporters in Cherkasy region on Thursday. At the same time Azarov noted that the oil extracted in Ukraine should be cheaper than imported oil.

Last year, Ukraine produced 3.55 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate, which was a 10.3% fall in production on the previous year.
