Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has predicted that a production sharing agreement (PSA) with Royal Dutch Shell for the Yuzovska field will be signed on January 24.

“Kharkiv and Donetsk Regional Councils made the decisions that help
sign the production sharing agreement on January 24,” the media liaisons
office of the government’s secretariat quoted him as saying at a
meeting with foreign reporters.

Azarov added that the commercial development of this field within ten
years could give Ukraine an additional eight to ten billion cubic
meters of natural gas per year.

At the same time, he said that unfortunately, the deputies of Lviv
and Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Councils had not yet taken a respective
decision on Chevron for the Oleska field.

As reported, Donetsk Regional Council on January 16 approved a draft
production sharing agreement with Shell for the Yuzovska field and
Kharkiv Regional Council approved it on January 17, 2013.

In May 2012, an interdepartmental commission on PSAs declared Shell
the winner for the development of the Yuzovska field (Kharkiv and
Donetsk regions) and Chevron the winner for the development of the
Oleska field (Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions).
