Cement production in Ukraine in March 2012 grew by 7% compared to March 2011, to 620,000 tonnes, while in February 2012 the decrease was 20.8% on February 2011, the State Statistics Service has said.
Compared to February 2012, cement production almost doubled.

Cement output in January-March 2012 came to 1.277 million tonnes, which is 3.5% up year-over-year.

As reported, cement production in Ukraine in January 2011 doubled on January 2010.

Cement production in Ukraine in 2011 increased by 11.2% compared to 2010, to 10.515 million tonnes, while the last time it grew, it rose by 9.1% in 2007 compared to 2006.

Earlier Ukrcement CEO Petro Lopatyev forecast that Ukrainian cement factories would be able to produce 10.9 million tonnes of cement in 2012, no more than 4% up on 2011. However, he also said that the current year's forecast for a fall in construction work could lead to a fall in cement production in 2012.
