The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has ordered the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPF) to transfer stakes in Kherson and Odesa combined heat and power plants to the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry within one month.

The decision is stipulated in cabinet resolution No. 1106 of November 28, 2012, which was posted on the government’s Web site on November 30, 2012.

Earlier, the cabinet in its resolution No. 1066 of November 21, 2012 ordered national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy to transfer to the ministry Lysychansk Severodonetsk, Mykolaiv, and Kryvy Rih combined heat and power plants, the Zuyivska experimental combined heat and power plant, and Crimean generating systems.

As reported, in April 2012, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych signed a law that lifted a ban on the privatization of 13 large combined heat and power plants to realize a program for their technical re-equipment and attracting non-state investment via their transfer to leasing or concession.

In November 2012, the SPF sold a 94.48% stake in Kharkiv combined heat and power plant 5 for UAH 339.9 million.
