The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has proposed cancelling the mandatory certification of grain, the press service of the Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry has reported.

“The government proposes cancelling the mandatory ‘internal’ certification of grain,” reads the statement.

In this regard, the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry prepared bill No. 2361a, which was registered in the Verkhovna Rada on June 20, 2013.

The ministry said that such an initiative would help reduce the cost of grain logistics, optimizing the process of grain exports and reducing the pressure of control authorities on grain producers and grain traders.

The bill also foresees the simplification of the procedure for issuing a certificate to provide grain storage services.

“This will help consolidate Ukraine’s image as a reliable supplier of grain and accelerate the implementation of export contracts for the supply of the planned 30 million tonnes of grain,” the ministry said.

As reported, the government earlier stressed the need to reduce logistics costs during the transportation and storage of grain. A special interdepartmental commission at the Economic Development and Trade Ministry was set up to resolve this issue.
