The leadership of the Russian sanitary service is satisfied with its dialogue with Ukraine on the return of Ukrainian cheese to the Ukrainian market, Rospotrebnadzor has told Interfax, referring to the result of a meeting of Rospotrebnadzor Head Gennady Onishchenko with Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on June 27, 2012.

The meeting was held as a part of a meeting of the committee for
economic cooperation of the Russian-Ukrainian interstate commission.

“At the meeting, the sides discussed the fulfillment of earlier
reached agreements regarding the realization of measures to eliminate
problems in the production of cheese by Ukraine so that the country can
resume supplies to the Russian market,” Rospotrebnadzor said.

“A positive pace was noted, and further steps were discussed about
how to more quickly resolve the present problems and resume supplies to
the Russian market of Ukrainian producers’ dairy products that are in
line with the requirements of Russia law,” Rospotrebnadzor said.

A well-informed source told Interfax that Ukraine now supplies only
25% of the amount of cheese that it exported to Russia before the
introduction of a ban by Rospotrebnadzor.
