You're reading: Hydrometeorological center forecasts winter grain production at the level of 21 million tones

The Hydrometeorological center of Ukraine forecasts winter grain production in the country in 2010 at the level of nearly 21 million tonnes, according to www.agrimarket.info.

According to the press release of the organization, the general production of winter grains was estimated with account of sowing areas of winter grains and the closing report about the sowing campaign of winter crops for the harvest-2010 of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine.

The announcement also marks that according to agricultural meteorological forecasts estimations, and taking into account the actual condition of the sowing areas, the present resources of moisture in the soil, the expected weather conditions, in 2010, the average yield of winter wheat will total nearly 29 centner/hectare, winter rye – 20 centner/hectare, winter barley – 27 centner/hectare.

Besides, the Hydrometeorological center of Ukraine marked that according to the complex estimation of the influence of weather factors to formation of winter grains harvest volumes during the vegetation period, the conditions of the current year are estimated at the lower level compared to the previous year results, and reach the average indices.
