The Income and Tax Ministry of Ukraine has proposed introducing new excise labels for alcohol and tobacco from September 1, 2013 instead of August 1, 2013.

A draft cabinet resolution on this has been posted on the official Web site of the Income and Tax Ministry.

According to an analysis of the document, it was drawn up to give
enough time for the supply of new excise labels to all companies, to
prevent the stoppage of alcohol and tobacco production and imports, and
to ensure payments to the budget are made in full.

Earlier, the government postponed the introduction of new excise
labels for alcohol and tobacco from May 1, 2013 to August 1, 2013. The
terms were postponed due to the necessity to carry out a stocktaking of
the excise labels at sellers and companies and for the execution of the
requirements of the law on government procurement.

In addition, it was expected that the price of new excise labels will
be increased by 2.6 times: the fee for an excise label for alcohol will
be Hr 0.27 per label instead of Hr 0.103, and that for tobacco – Hr
0.142 per label instead of Hr 0.055.
