The government of Ukraine should withdraw its bill on domestic trade, as if it is adopted, businesses and ordinary Ukrainians will suffer, BYT-Batkivschyna faction MP and Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Industrial and Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship Natalia Korolevska has said.

"The bill submitted by the government contains seven corrupt traps for businesses. It should not be adopted, as most of Ukraine’s economy will hide in the shadows, production will drop, and prices will grow. Not only businesses, but also almost every Ukrainian will suffer losses. This is why I call on the Cabinet of Ministers to recall the bill from the parliament for revision," the press service cited Korolevska as saying.

According to the politician, the government bill will aggravate the difficult situation for businesses, as it envisages creation of new watchdogs, the introduction of additional reporting to local governments, the introduction of additional fiscal reporting, limits on the time of work of vendors, the introduction of new additional fines, and the creation of additional obstacles to online trading.

"The introduction of special qualification conditions for restaurant businesses is especially cynical," Korolevska said.

The MP added that almost every entrepreneur that sells goods and services, from an Internet shop to a café or a restaurant, would fall into such traps.

"A proper law on the domestic trade should be aimed at developing and supporting national manufacturers, creating conditions for proper competition on the market, and creating new jobs in Ukraine, while with this bill officials are trying to create new food troughs for themselves," she said.

Korolevska also noted that domestic trade is one of the most dynamic sectors of the Ukrainian economy.

It rose by more than 1.5 times to almost Hr 700 billion over 2011. Over 10% of foreign investments in the country’s economy are focused on this segment.

On Oct. 12, 2011 the Cabinet of Ministers approved the bill on domestic trade No. 9443 and submitted it to the Verkhovna Rada.

The document was registered in the parliament on Nov. 10, 2011. The bill was on the agenda on Jan. 13, 2012, but its consideration was eliminated from the agenda due to an unknown reason, according to the press service.
