You're reading: Kyivstar launches over 290 base stations

JSC Kyivstar, a mobile communications operator, in January-June 2011 launched more than 290 base stations, according to a company press release.

Some 150 of the base stations were launched in central Ukraine, 75 stations in the east, more than 45 in western regions, and more than 15 in Crimea.

In addition, the operator in the first half of 2011 connected more than 7,000 transmitters, thus expanding the network capacity by 5.7% compared to last year, and improved the EDGE bandwidth and coverage in the western regions of Ukraine.

Kyivstar also worked to expand the network of fixed Internet access using FTTB technology. It put in operation an infrastructure of aggregation and distribution nodes (202 nodes).
