The Kyiv-based Boryspil International Airport requires investment of around $150 million to fully finish construction and ensure stable work, Deputy Infrastructure Minister Dmytro Demydovych said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

Commenting on the possible transfer of the airport to concession, he said that the Infrastructure Ministry supports the initiative.

“This is the proper direction for Boryspil airport’s development, as the airport has a large credit debt to banks – around $600 million, which was borrowed for its development,” he said.

Boryspil International Airport is the main airport of the country and services 65% of the passenger air traffic in Ukraine. It is the only airport in Ukraine from which transcontinental flights are performed.

In the first 10 months of 2012 the airport serviced 7.393 million passengers.
