Money transfer systems ensures arrival of $4.297 billion to Ukraine in 2012, which is 5.8 times more than the volume of money sent abroad, reads a posting on the Web site of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

“In 2012, using inter-state and international money transfer systems created both by residents and nonresidents, $4.297 billion was sent to Ukraine [in equivalent] and $737 million [in equivalent] was sent from Ukraine,” reads the report.

According to the report, Hr 21.568 billion and $12 million in equivalent were transferred within Ukraine via the money transfer systems in 2012.

The central bank also said that as of early 2013, nine inter-state and international money transfer systems created by residents of Ukraine operated in Ukraine, including four systems founded by banks and five systems created by non-bank institutions.

In addition, 23 international money transfer systems created by nonresidents operated in Ukraine in 2012. Around 150 Ukrainian banks are participants of the said systems, as well as private joint-stock company Ukrainian Financial Group and national postal operator – Ukrposhta.
