The National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting has issued an official warning to TeleRadioSvit LLC (the Kyiv-based TVi Channel), reads a posting on the Web site of the regulator issued on Wednesday.

According to report, after checks it was revealed that under a license obtained in October 2009 the television company can broadcast in Simeiz, Kurortne and Morske (all in Crimea) and Vyzhnitsa (Chernivtsi region) and Verkhniy Yaseniv (Ivano-Frankivsk region).

However, it was established that the channel broadcast its TV programs only in Verkhniy Yaseniv.

The council refers to Ukrainian law, according to which the license holder has the right to start broadcasting within one year of the moment of the license taking effect and report on the start of broadcasting in a ten-day period to the council.

In addition, the checks revealed some infringements of the license conditions with regard to program concepts.

The council obliged the television company to bring its operations in line with the license conditions within one month.

The warning was issued to the TV channel after checks conducted in November 2010.

TVi Director General Mykola Kniazhytsky on his Facebook page said that the decision of the regulator is illegal and accused council members of censorship and corruption in the television and radio broadcasting sphere.
