The policy of economic realism conducted by Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Sergiy Arbuzov is the most necessary one in the country, according to Head of the NBU Council, Ihor Prasolov.

“The policy of economic realism conducted by Arbuzov and the NBU
board today is the most effective and most necessary one in the
country,” he said at a roundtable on Thursday.

The political circles of Ukraine are actively discussing the
likelihood of the change of the government head, taking into account the
outcome of the parliamentary election, and Arbuzov is named one of the
candidates for the post of prime minister.

He also said that Arbuzov’s actions have gained high appreciation from the international community.

“The fact that the NBU governor is on the same ranking with Ben
Bernake (chairman of the Federal Reserve) shows that our central bank is
conducting weighted and correct monetary, credit and currency
policies,” he said.

Prasolov also said that while the unfavorable situation on the global
market continues, “2013 will be difficult: global problems will affect
our further development.”

He said that the banking system has demonstrated high stress resistance.
