You're reading: Nibulon starts building of floating crane at shipyard in Romania

Nibulon (Mykolaiv), one of the largest producers and exporters of grain in Ukraine, has started building a floating crane (the POSS-901 project) at the SNC shipyard in Constanta (Romania).

According to the official Web site of the company, the contract to
build the crane was signed on July 2, 2012. In accordance with the
contractual obligations the crane is to be complete on February 28,
2013.

According to the company, the handling floating crane will be the
most productive one in Ukraine. Its technical characteristics are the
following: its length is 52.3 m, width 22 m, draught 2 m, displacement
2,000 tonnes, and speed at least 4 knots.

“It is designed for loading and unloading operations in a grab mode
with a lifting capacity of up to 45 tonnes, and in a hook mode with up
to 60 tonnes on inland waterways, in the Azov Sea and the 20-mile
coastal zone of the Black Sea, all year round,” the press service said.

Nibulon was established in 1991 and is one of the largest operators
on the grain market. The company has elevators with a total capacity of
1.6 million tonnes, as well as its own transshipment terminal in
Mykolaiv.

Nibulon has since 2009 been implementing a project to commission 17
grain elevators and river terminals, as well as build 57 vessels,
including 14 sea and river tugboats with an overall deadweight of
200,000 tonnes.
