You're reading: No Ukrainian airlines on EU blacklist

There are no Ukrainian air carriers on the European Commission's black list of the airlines that barred from flying over European Union countries for safety reasons.

The Air Safety Committee of the European Commission has lifted restrictions on Ukrainian airline Ukrainian Mediterranean Airlines (UMAir), the last Ukrainian airline remaining on the blacklist, Interfax-Ukraine learned at the Ukrainian mission to the European Union in Brussels on Wednesday.

This came as a result of the analysis of flight safety management systems for 2010 conducted by the European Aviation Safety Agency.

According to the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, a safety margin of Ukrainian air carriers in 2011 was 0.85, which is the same as the average figure for countries such as France, Britain and Poland.

UMAir was blacklisted in September 2008.
