Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko considers it inappropriate to introduce a 15% pension levy on currency sales by individuals.

“This bill has been rejected, and I believe that this decision was absolutely correct, as today we cannot create an additional burden on common economic operations. I think this creates a huge threat of putting a significant part of the market in the shadows, and effectively downgrading the competitiveness of the Ukrainian economy,” he said at a briefing on Monday.

As reported, the National Bank continues to insist on the introduction of this tax to eliminate the influence of speculators on the exchange rate dynamics.
