Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will meet with representatives of the country's agricultural sector on April 11 to discuss progress in land reform, the presidential press service has reported.

The head of state said at a meeting with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on Monday: "It is extremely important to consult with grain growers on all issues that cause ambiguous perceptions by villagers, for example – when land will become a commodity and who will be its real owner, or whether Ukrainian black soil, our golden land reserve, will remain in the hands of the people who work on our land."

"I am particularly concerned that the villagers themselves are not harmed by the process of land reform," Yanukovych said.

Yanukovych and Azarov also discussed the spring sowing campaign, grain quotas, and amendments to the state budget that would provide an opportunity to channel more funds to the social protection of poor people, as well as cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and other topics.
