Certain progress has been made in formulating options for cooperation between Kyiv and the Customs Union member states in the 3+1 format, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara said.

“Ukraine will hold negotiations with different agencies of the Customs Union with the aim of promoting our cooperation in the 3+1 format. I would like to say that in this context certain progress has already been made, including the adoption of trade cooperation documents with the Eurasian Economic Commission,” Kozhara said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Ukraine is interested in working together with the Customs Union on many issues, he said.

The minister noted that in 2012 the Ukrainian government and the Eurasian Economic Commission signed two international documents – a memorandum on trade cooperation and a memorandum on cooperation in the sphere of technical regulation.

Asked whether Ukraine could partially join some agreements within the Customs Union, Kozhara said: “I think in the negotiation process Ukraine will manage to find the ways to deepen its cooperation with the Customs Union.”

At the same time, the minister said that the negotiation process would show in what format Ukraine could cooperate with the Customs Union.

“But the dynamics of these negotiations is positive. I think we will achieve a result that will be mutually beneficial for both Ukraine and the Customs Union,” Kozhara said.
