Shell in the near future will select a contractor to carry out geophysical field surveys (seismic exploration) on the Yuzivska deposit (Kharkiv and Donetsk regions), a source in the government has told Interfax-Ukraine.
“In May, Shell announced a tender to select a contractor to carry out seismic surveys on Yuzivska deposit, and documents were accepted until the end of June. On August 1 Shell planned to announce the results and sign a contract with the winner, but then the term was shifted back two weeks. Therefore the winner will be determined soon,” he said.
According to the source, major Ukrainian companies involved in seismic exploration, as well as foreign players take part in the tender.
The source said the winner of the tender would perform research on about 1,500 linear km, and the work will take 15 months.
The Ukrainian representative office of Shell has not commented on the issue.
