Employees of the tax police did not seize computer equipment, servers, or goods belonging to Rozetka.ua Ltd during searches conducted in connection with its investigation into a criminal case, the head of the department for the organization and disclosure of tax crimes at the Kyiv department of tax police, Oleksiy Chornobay, said at a press briefing on Thursday, Apr.19.

"No actions were conducted to halt or obstruct the actions of the company Rozetka.ua. That is, the activities of the company were not paralyzed," he said.
Chornobay said that the work of the Web site could not be terminated by tax officers. He also explained the temporary suspension of the Web site’s work by the conditions of the investigation, prohibiting the use of communications means.

He said that tax police conducted two unscheduled checks on Rozetka.ua Ltd. in October 2011 and March 2012, based on which a criminal case was opened against the director of the company under Part 3, Article 212 of the Criminal Code.

Earlier reports, citing the press service of Kyiv tax police, said that the agency accused Rozetka.ua of evading taxes worth UAH 8 million.
As reported, searches were conducted in the office of the Kyiv-based Mirohost hosting provider on Thursday, reportedly by tax police.

According to earlier media reports, searches in the office of the Mirohost hosting provider were linked to the suspension of the work of the Rozetka.ua, the country’s largest online electronics store.
