Ukraine since the start of the current agricultural year (July 2012- June 2013) as of April 1, 2013 has exported 19.4 million tonnes of grain, which is 24.7% up year-over-year, according to the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine.

The ministry said that exports of Ukrainian wheat came to almost 6.3 million tonnes (including almost 5.4 million tonnes of bread wheat) compared to 3.79 million tonnes year-over-year.

Exports of barley this season reached two million tonnes, while 2.13 million tonnes of barley was delivered to foreign markets in the previous season. Some 10.77 million tonnes of corn was shipped, compared to almost 9.5 million tonnes year-over-year.

The ministry said that at the beginning of the current season grain traders and the ministry set the conditions for the possible introduction of restrictions on grain exports by the state and the largest possible volumes of grain exports.

Under the agreement, at present, due the fact that the country has almost exhausted its wheat export potential, only companies that bought almost 225,300 tonnes of grain from the Agrarian Fund can export wheat.

The ministry said in March that it could permit traders to additionally export 500,000 tonnes of wheat this season if the state of winter crops is good.
