You're reading: Ukraine lifts ban on poultry imports from Estonia and Bulgaria

The State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine has lifted a ban on the imports of poultry products from Estonia and Bulgaria earlier introduced because of cases of Newcastle disease in these countries.

According to the service, the basis for removing restrictive measures was the message of the International Epizootic Bureau on granting the status of countries free of Newcastle disease to these states.

Ukraine introduced a ban on the imports of poultry products from Estonia in August 2007, from Bulgaria – in December 2008.

Newcastle disease is a dangerous disease of poultry, which can be transmitted to people.
