The Vojany gas pipeline, through which reverse supplies of natural gas from Slovakia to Ukraine are to start, will reach the maximum capacity from the beginning of October 2014, reads a report by Eustream. According to the head of the operator of the Slovak gas transportation system, Tomas Marecek, Eustream will make every effort to reduce the term of technical preparation of the Vojany pipeline for the start of deliveries to Ukraine and its use at a maximum capacity of 8-9 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, reverse gas supplies from Slovakia to Ukraine through this pipeline are to be launched in September at 22 million cubic meters per day.

As reported, the operators of the Ukrainian and Slovak gas transportation systems – Ukrtransgaz and Eustream – on April 28, 2014 signed a memorandum of understanding regarding reverse gas supplies.

As a result, the parties agreed that the memorandum should open opportunities for realizing both options of small-scale reverse supplies (through the Vojany pipeline) and large-scale.

Ukraine hopes that the signing of the memorandum will be the first step towards the implementation of reverse supplies in large volumes.
