You're reading: Volia to start switching off analog TV broadcasting in Lviv

Lviv Telecommunications Systems Ltd. (the Volia-Lviv brand) from March 1, 2010 will start providing cable TV services exclusively in a digital format, according to Volia's press release.

Volia is intending to completely implement digital TV broadcasting in Lviv by 2012. Analog TV broadcasting will be switched off in the Riasny microdistrict next week.

"Taking as a basis the successful experience of the transfer to digital TV broadcasting in Kyiv, where Volia will 100% transfer the network to digital TV broadcasting in the next month, the company has developed a plan for gradually informing subscribers in Lviv [about the switch]. Inparticular, subscribersarepersonallyinformed, groups of specialists come to homes, help to connect new equipment and teach subscribers how to use it," the press release reads.

The company said that the transfer to digital TV broadcasting is linked to the increased quality of services and the possibility of implementing new services, and a continual growth in the cost of supporting out-of-date analog technology.
