You're reading: Wizz Air not to enter Ukrainian domestic flight market

The Wizz Air Ukraine low-cost airline is not going to enter the market of domestic passenger flights inside Ukraine, Wizz Air Group Executive Vice President John Stephenson said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

“We have a rather large aircraft with 180 seats that will cause a low occupancy rate of such flights. We don’t think that such big aircraft should fly on domestic flights, and that’s why now we’re focusing on international flights,” he said.

Today Wizz Air carries out just one domestic flight – Kyiv-Simferopol during the summer season.

As reported, today the fleet of the airline consists of 35 Airbus-320 planes. Wizz Air Ukraine, which is a part of the group, has two Airbus-320 planes in its fleet. In April 2013, Wizz Air Ukraine will take delivery of a new Airbus-320 from its makers in Toulouse.

Wizz Air Group started operations in 2004. The carrier flies to Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Turkey, and Greece.
