The Russian Embassy in Ukraine will submit a proposal to the leadership of the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry to resume gas talks, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov has said.

"We have received a letter, which we are planning to submit soon to the leadership of the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, from the leadership of the respective Russian ministry, with a proposal to resume the talks," he told reporters in Kyiv on Friday.

He said that he had received this letter on Friday morning. It was delivered to the Russian Embassy in Ukraine and will soon be submitted to Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boiko.

Zurabov said that the letter concerns "Russia’s readiness to resume talks, and the leadership of the Russian ministry informs the Ukrainian side about this."

The ambassador also said that the gas issue would be discussed during Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin’s visit to Ukraine, but this issue will not be the main one.
