Kyiv authorities to file lawsuit to stop opposition rallies on Independence Day
"If they are submitted, and if the law enforcement agencies provide arguments to us that this could lead to negative consequences, then we will react by submitting our proposals to court," Popov said.
As reported, Civil Position Party leader Anatoliy Hrytsenko said that the Dictatorship Resistance Committee, which was recently created by opposition parties and non-governmental organizations, had filed a general application for holding mass rallies on Independence Day on August 24.
"We signed another petition for Kyiv's Pechersky court with a request to release [former Premier and Batkivschyna Party leader] Yulia Tymoshenko from custody and submitted a general application for holding mass rallies on Independence Day. On August 24, the opposition will stand together in order to show people that the violation of European standards and human rights is completely unacceptable," Hrytsenko said.
