Popov: Japanese businesses to invest in Kyiv's transport infrastructure
"I am happy that soon we are starting the implementation of a very important joint project that will allow us to modernize significantly the rolling stock of Kyiv subway. In fact, I mean a complete modernization of subway cars using the latest technologies. The project will be implemented under the provisions of the Kyoto Protocol. We are getting ready for tenders. Actually, I think that it's only a part of our cooperation," Popov said.
In turn, Sakata noted that Japanese businessmen are interested in cooperation with Kyiv as one of the most prospective cities in Eastern Europe.
The ambassador added that the Japanese government supports cooperation between the country's private sector and the capital of Ukraine.
Sakata also congratulated Popov on the successful completion of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.
