A rally in support of TVi Channel is held in Kyiv on Saturday, according to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent.
About 1,000 people with flags with the channel logo and the wording "TVi - the last frontier of freedom" gathered at St. Michael's Square.
"They are trying to destroy our channel. But I think that with your help we will not allow this," TVi Channel Director Mykola Kniazhytsky said, when opening the meeting.
He said that the channel staff asked politicians today not to come to the square with political flags, but at the same time he expressed gratitude to the deputies who came to the meeting for support.
Thus, according to Kniazhytsky, the action was supported by the Batkivschyna United Opposition, the UDAR Party of Vitali Klitschko, the Svoboda Party as their representatives came to the rally.
The participants in the rally required to cease the repression of independent mass media and pressure on journalists, resume the broadcasting of TVi Channel in full in Ukrainian regions.
The people also demanded the resignation of the members of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council.
Ukrainian musical group Tartak appeared on the stage in support of the rally before the meeting.
