The celebration of Christmas on Maidan (Independence Square) in central Kyiv is going quietly in warm atmosphere.

Around noon on Tuesday, there were some thousand people on the capital city’s central square. They were standing near the stage where both professional and amateur artists and bands were performing, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

Christmas carols were sung from the stage.

Residents of the tent city were helping themselves with a traditional Christmas dish – kutia, soup and pies.

The press centre of the National Resistance Headquarters is closed until 1000 on January 8.
