Lviv – Lviv city authorities are developing a project of the first underground tourist route, Lviv Deputy Mayor Vasyl Kosiv has said.

“We are implementing the Underground Lviv project within the program of cross-border cooperation with Poland and Belarus. The matter concerns the comprehensive study of the underground in the center of Lviv, archaeological surveys and the development of design estimates for the city’s first underground tourist route almost one kilometer long,” he told reporters on Thursday.

The project is 90% funded by the EU [more than EUR 445,000), 10% will be issued by Lviv City Council.

According to Kosiv, the route 800 meters long, designed for one hour, is to begin near the Dormition Church and pass to the Poltva River.

Now we can talk only about design estimates and archaeological studies. The project does not foresee funds for its implementation, Kosiv said.

“Probably, this project will be nominated for a grant from the EU or implemented using state funds,” he said.
