A new special television project "Living on Equal Terms," which is dedicated to people with disabilities, will start on the First National TV Channel on March 16, Head of the National Television Company of Ukraine Oleksandr Panteleimonov has said.

“The National Television Company, along with the National Sports Committee for the Disabled of Ukraine, is launching a new special TV show – ‘Living on Equal Terms.’ There will be about 40 issues of this program by the end of the year. We hope that it will have good ratings,” he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine in Kyiv on Thursday.

Chairman of the National Assembly of the Disabled of Ukraine, MP Valeriy Sushkevych, said that the program would be broadcast on Saturdays at 1220. The program will focus on the life of people with disabilities, various social barriers, as well as the successes of such people in sports and life.

“Today, there is a problem of barriers for people with disabilities in society, mainly due to problems with social consciousness, and the post-Soviet mentality. Promoting in the minds of society the knowledge that these people should have equal rights and opportunities regardless of disability is a challenge for our project,” he said.

The champion and prizewinner of the world championships in cross country skiing and biathlon, multiple Paralympic medalist Svitlana Tryfonova, will be the program’s host.
