BUCHAREST, Romania — Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu has left hospital after undergoing surgery following a car accident in Bucharest.
Lucescu's SUV was hit by a tram on Jan. 6. Surgery was performed on Lucescu because blood was gathering in his chest. He also had several broken ribs.

Lucescu says on Monday that he is in good shape.

Doctors have advised him to avoid the cold and he will need to return for tests later this week. He says he will join his club in Ukraine next week.

Lucescu, who guided Shakhtar to the 2009 UEFA Cup, has also coached Inter Milan, Galatasaray and the Romanian national team.
