You're reading: UNA-UNSO plans to picket concert of Boris Moiseyev

A Ukrainian ultra-nationalist organization is protesting a planned Nov. 5 performance by Russian pop star Boris Moiseyev because he is gay.

Moiseyev’s colorful performances are often attended by Verkhovna Rada deputies and other government officials. As a result, the organization UNA-UNSO asserts that Ukrainian legislators favor sexual minorities over “defenders of the Motherland”. “UNA-UNSO is indignant that participation of its members in military operations is considered a war crime,” said Andry Shkil, head of UNA-UNSO.

A press conference on Oct. 30 was held amid slogans like “Fly home, swan” and “Red make love only with blue.” UNA-UNSO is also going to picket Moiseyev’s concert at Palats Ukraina on Oct. 5. UNA-UNSO members said they have nothing against gay Ukrainian pop stars.

Bryan Adams didn’t use much imagination during his concerts in Moscow and Kyiv on Oct. 26 and 27. Reviews of both concerts are amazingly similar.

In both cities, the Canadian rock star asked the fans to come closer to the stage after the second song. Then Adams had a little chat with fans, saying that he was pleased that the audience knew all his lyrics. When in Moscow performing “Baby, When You’re Gone,” his duet with with Melanie C, he picked a random girl from the audience to sing with him, and then repeated this trick in Kyiv. Apparently, Melanie C has competition among Adams’ fans.
