Azerbaijani President Ilham Heydar Oglu Aliyev has plans to pay an official visit to Ukraine by the end of 2010 for meeting authorities.

Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Aliyev confirmed his readiness to visit Ukraine later this year in course of a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko in Azerbaijan.

In frames of this visit the sides will convoke the 8th meeting of the joint Ukraine-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation and discuss there the current state and prospects of the two states’ cooperation.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the energy industry, military-technical and aerospace spheres.

According to another statement from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a meeting Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamediarov discussed the forthcoming visit in details. The foreign ministers said the visit should be result in specific projects of bilateral cooperation.

The ministers agreed that during the visit of the Azerbaijani president to Ukraine the second meeting of the council of the presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan will be convened. The agenda of the meeting will be finalized following the eighth meeting of the joint Ukraine-Azerbaijan interstate commission for economic cooperation in Kyiv in the second half of September – early in October 2010.

Hryschenko has been staying in Azerbaijan on an official visit from July 18, before that he visited Kazakhstan and China.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukraine looks to establishing imports of Azerbaijani liquefied gas through a terminal at the Georgian seaport of Kulevi, memorandum of cooperation on construction of which Azerbaijan, Georgia, Bulgaria and Romania signed in April.
