International observers, in their preliminary findings on the parliamentary elections in Ukraine, have noted a number of flaws in the organization and holding of the elections, and all of these remarks will be taken into account, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

"International observers, in their preliminary findings, have noted a number of shortcomings during the organization and holding of the elections. All of the remarks will be carefully analyzed, and the flaws detected will be taken into account in further work on improving electoral legislation and practice," the ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The ministry said that international observers had noted the creation of a proper legal framework for the holding of democratic elections, the general nature of the electoral process, the opportunity for voters to choose between different parties, and a calm and peaceful voting process.

"Most international observers positively assessed the voting process and the counting of the votes. Thus, the international community recognizes that the future composition of the Verkhovna Rada reflects the will of the Ukrainian people, and the traditions of competitive democracy and parliamentarianism are strengthening in Ukraine," reads the statement.

"The voting results help us say with confidence that the basic principles of Ukraine's domestic and foreign policy will remain unchanged. The election of the new composition of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is creating favorable conditions for enhancing democratic and economic reforms initiated by President Viktor Yanukovych and continuing the strategic course for European integration," the ministry said.
