Three doctors from the Berlin-based Charite Clinic, who are treating former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, will leave for Kharkiv on Monday, July 30, according to a statement posted on the clinic's Web site on Friday.
“Prof. Karl Max Einhaupl, Dr. Anett Reisshauer and Prof. Lutz Harms will consult with their Ukrainian colleagues from Hospital No. 5 [Ukrzaliznytsia’s Central Clinical Hospital No.5 in Kharkiv],” reads the statement.
Charite reiterated that it is ready to participate in the process of Tymoshenko’s treatment and that it attaches great importance to cooperation with Ukrainian doctors from Hospital No. 5 and the Ukrainian Health Ministry.
As reported, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova said on Friday that “an international commission composed of German and Ukrainian doctors, on the basis of all available data on the health of patient Tymoshenko and on the basis of the number of procedures that the patient underwent, noted that the treatment process has been successfully completed.”
She also said that “now, for unknown reasons, German doctors from the Charite Clinic canceled their representative’s visit to Tymoshenko.”
“The German doctors have not come to Ukraine and have not examined Tymoshenko for 16 days, communicating with the patient only by phone. That is why it is impossible to adopt a plan for Tymoshenko’s further treatment with the German doctors,” Bohatyriova said.
On July 31, Kharkiv will host a court hearing of the case on charges brought against Tymoshenko regarding the financial irregularities of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation.
