Klitschko: United opposition and UDAR have every chance to create majority in parliament
Lviv – UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko has said that his party and the united opposition have every chance to create a majority in a new parliament.
"I hope it will happen. We have every chance of creating a majority in parliament together with parties that promote democratic principles. Therefore, we're working hard together. Almost a year ago we signed a declaration that we will not fight against each other. It's very important to fight against the Regions Party, because it is the main enemy of democracy in Ukraine, and of the democratic parties," he said at a press conference in Lviv on Friday.
When asked by Interfax-Ukraine whether talks are being held on the formation of a majority in parliament, in connection with a statement by a leader of the united opposition, Arseniy Yatseniuk, that "those who don't support the united opposition work for [President Viktor] Yanukovych," Klitschko said: "This is a big mistake if Yatseniuk said so. There's no need to paint the world black and white."
"We're communicating. We are agreeing on our actions and we are continuing to communicate. I'm sure that we will need to cooperate in order to create a majority in parliament. With who else will the united opposition create a majority with?" he said.
Klitschko said that the UDAR Party would in no case cooperate with the Regions Party or the Communist Party, as they supported a large number of laws that do not meet the interests of the country, but meet the interests of a group of people who want to make money."
Parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.
