The leaders of the united opposition have said that it will be possible to fulfill a judgment of the European Court of Human Rights and release former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from prison only after a change of government in the country.

“Of course, we are confident that the case will be considered
objectively in Europe. At the same time, political prisoners will not be
released even under a judgment of the European court until this gang
runs the country,” the head of the central election headquarters of the
united opposition, the first deputy leader of the Batkivschyna Party,
Oleksandr Turchynov, said outside the building of the Higher Specialized
Court for Civil and Criminal Cases in Kyiv on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

“Therefore, it will be possible to release prisoners, release
Tymoshenko and release Ukraine only by winning these elections,” he
said.

The No. 1 on the list of the united opposition, Front for Change
Party leader Arseniy Yatseniuk, supported his colleague that the ECHR’s
judgment could be fulfilled only after the opposition comes to power.

“Of course, the truth cannot be got in the so-called Ukrainian
courts. The truth can be got only in Europe. But this is not enough.
It’s necessary to have power to ensure that the ECHR’s judgment is
fulfilled,” he said.

Yatseniuk called on supporters to do everything for the opposition’s victory in the new elections.
