Penitentiary service confirms Lutsenko's transportation to Mena Penal Colony
The State Penitentiary Service has confirmed the transportation of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko to Mena Penal Colony No. 91 in Chernihiv region.
"Lutsenko was transported from the detention center [in Kyiv] to the Mena penal colony at about 7:10 a.m. today," an assistant to the head of the State Penitentiary Service, Ihor Andrushko, told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday, Aug. 31.
At the same time, when asked how an appeal lodged against Lutsenko's second sentence will be considered due to his transfer to the colony, Andrushko said he could not currently give a clear answer.
"I am not ready to say now whether he will be delivered to the Court of Appeal. I think not, although such a decision – regarding the consideration of a complaint in the presence or absence of the defendant - should be taken only in court," he said.
