Petro Ustenko has been elected head of the Socialist Party of Ukraine, the party's press service said on Sunday.
The decision to elect a new head of the Socialist Party was made at a party congress in Kyiv on Saturday. Oleksandr Moroz, who had headed the party for many years, nominated Ustenko for election and asked to support him.

Some 267 of the 342 registered delegates secretly voted for Ustenko.

Earlier Ustenko held the post of first deputy head of the Socialist Party, headed the party election headquarters.
