You're reading: Prosecution: Tymoshenko’s testimony akin to political statement

The state prosecution in the gas case against former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has said Tymoshenko's testimony sounds like a political statement.

"The statements of the accused have nothing in common with her questioning. These are quite plainly political statements," State Prosecutor Vasyl Bairachny said during a court hearing on Wednesday.

Tymoshenko’s lawyer, Oleksandr Plakhotniuk, in turn, said that the former premier was giving testimony freely, and the prosecution could ask qualifying questions during her interrogation.
