The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office has ordered Kyiv prosecutor's office to conduct checks regarding the release on the Internet of a video from a prison cell of a pre-trial detention center, in which former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was earlier imprisoned.
"Due to the release on the Internet on April 25 of a video clip about a meeting between two persons resembling Tymoshenko and her defense lawyer, Serhiy Vlasenko, in Kyiv’s pre-trial detention center, the prosecutor's office in Kyiv was ordered to immediately organize respective checks. After the checks, urgent measures should be taken to remove violations and call to account those who are to blame for this. The Prosecutor General's Office should be informed about the results of the checks and measures taken by April 28," the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported on Wednesday.

As reported, a video appeared on the Internet, which shows a woman resembling Tymoshenko who freely moves around the prison cell of the pre-trial detention center (the video is dated December 15, 2011, when the former prime minister was imprisoned in the pre-trial detention center). The Batkivschyna Party said that the video was faked. Vlasenko also described this video as faked.

At the same time, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine reported that the video was real.
