The UDAR Party is ready to hold a debate with political opponents from Natalia Korolevska's Ukraine-Forward! Party and the Regions Party, UDAR's press service has reported.

“It is acceptable around the world to hold a debate with political
opponents, those who have radically different views on the situation in
the country and its development. If [footballer] Andriy Shevchenko, who
is taking his first steps in politics, says aloud that their political
pre-election project ‘Ukraine-Forward!’ is an opponent of UDAR and the
opposition, i.e. a pro-government project, then UDAR is ready for a
debate in the format ‘The Opposition against the Regions Party and its
Satellites,'” the press service of Vitali Klitschko’s party said in a
statement on Monday, in response to Shevchenko’s appeal for a debate
between representatives of Ukraine-Forward! Party and UDAR.

At the same time, UDAR’s press service reported that the party sees
no point in having a debate with political parties that will not
overcome the 5% threshold in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of
Ukraine.

“While the satellites of the party in power cannot individually win
seats on parliament, it makes sense to debate only with those parties
that overcome the 5% threshold,” reads the statement.

As reported, Shevchenko, on the Big Football program on Ukraina TV
Channel on September 9, suggested that UDAR Party leader Vitali
Klitschko hold a political debate between the teams of the
Ukraine-Forward! and UDAR parties on the future of the country.
