You're reading: Ukrainian president decides to set up his charity fund

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych intends to create his charitable foundation to assist those, who are in need of assistance.

"I have set a task to establish my charitable foundation. And I want to transfer there the funds, which I own, including perhaps part my wages And I will spend that money only for helping people, such as children affected by the Chornobyl disaster for instance," he said in an interview with Donetsk reporters, which was aired by the first National Channel on Friday night.

The president said that he had been already asked to help to pay for the operations on three children. "I shall help," he said.

Yanukovych expressed his hope that philanthropists would join the activities of his charity fund.

"We should help people," the president summed up.
