The upcoming elections to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on October 28 should be fair, transparent, and in line with all democratic standards, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

The upcoming elections to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on October 28 should be fair, transparent, and in line with all democratic standards, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"The election campaign has started. It is important to organize it properly," the president said at a meeting with candidates for positions of chairmen of district state administrations, according to the president's press service.

"Our key task is to hold the elections transparently and in a democratic way," the president said.
