Yatseniuk: best plan of Ukraine's economic development in association agreement with EU
To develop the Ukrainian economy it is needed to overcome monopoly and corruption, reduce the number of taxes, create new jobs and sign the association agreement with the European Union, Council Head of the Batkivschyna united opposition Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"The best plan of economic reforms is set out in the initialed agreement between Ukraine and the EU – these are a free trade zone and political association with the Europeans. Our future, our markets, our technologies, the quality of education, medicine, living standards are there. The faster we sign and ratify this agreement, the better the economic agenda of Ukraine is," he said.
The politician stressed that fighting against corruption is a prerequisite to attract foreign investment to Ukraine.
"How they will come now if investors know that you transferred money here, and guys from the Regions Party come and say you must give half of the business," he said.
Yatseniuk noted that the united opposition has developed a plan to combat corruption, which foresees the creation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and anticorruption lustration.
"We need to deprive officials of the influence on economic processes, as if officials have power to influence the decisions of private entrepreneurs they require money for this," he added.
"But the best option for resolving the problem of corruption is one: if Ukraine has an incorrupt president, an incorrupt parliament, then the country has no corruption as a whole. Corruption is not an inspector of the State Automobile Inspectorate. Corruption is not a teacher or a doctor. Corruption is the president, the government and those who head corruption in Ukraine today," said Yatseniuk.
